GENETICS
Pierce's mother — while he never met her — was a Garlean woman his father owned after she had been abducted into trafficking. So unlike majority of his brothers he has very minimal magical abilities and harnesses a smaller amount of aether compared to the average Eorzean.
OCCUPATION
Pierce works in Garlemald acting as a noble woman's bodyguard and shield. He despises the girl, although his father picked him specifically to carry out this job for the sake of family relationships. None of the Tawnee sons say no when their father asks them for a favor. Pierce searched for a slave with powerful connections to the aether and brings them with him whenever he travels so he can have assistance whenever he wants to teleport back home. He likes being as far as he can from his current employer. That is why you will often see him hiding in the Quicksand whenever he's off work.

THE TAWNEE FAMILY
Pierce comes from a giant crime family with over 30 'brothers'. Females are always killed the moment they are born by the patriarch of the family, which is the reason you will find no female Tawnees. At the age of 16 you are considered a man and will begin learning the family trade. Before beginning to work in the family business the patriarch requires you to give him a son so if anything were to happen to you, there is still a legacy left behind. This family structure is the reason it is so large and growing exponentially.
CRIME
The Tawnees are involved in human trafficking. They make victims go missing and distribute people into illegal slavery, dismantle them for parts (organs can be quite useful for dark magics, experimentation, and curses), and occasionally will destroy or manipulate people's minds so they forget who they are and can be used to the family's advantage. Any women with interesting or valuable skills (or races) might be held aside for one of the sons to reproduce with if the patriarch believes they will create a valuable offspring to add to his collection of sons. The family holds valuable ties to the Garlean Empire, some sons even being sent to live there in order to better handle and communicate with family clients.

PIERCE'S SLAVE | UNCLAIMED
Pierce saught you out for your powerful connection with aether and uses you mainly as an easy form of transportation. You are over overworked and exhausted because of it, almost always trying to recover your aether when you aren't being used by Pierce. He tells you to lie about being his co-worker, and if you ask for help or break that image he will murder you and give your corpse to one of his brothers to let a voidsent have your body instead.

It's very common for Pierce and his family to hire outside help when it's needed for low level jobs. If you are a mercenary type, you could have a long standing relationship with the Tawnees and be quite familiar with Pierce after having worked with him on and off.

I'd like Pierce to meet a butcher who runs an illegal chop shop out of the back. This means they harvest organs, filter blood, and resell body parts into the black market for all types of dark magic. Pierce would have a long standing relationship with you and have brought you bodies from time to time.

You are one of the people unfortunate enough to get abducted by the Tawnees. Pierce is put in charge of keeping tabs on inventory when you're taken, meaning he'll be dealing with you. This plot works best if we plan out an end location or buyer for you prior to you being taken.

HISTORY WITH ALTESSA
As a teenager (and new to the family business), Pierce found Altessa wandering the streets of Ul'dah looking pitiful and helpless. She was the type of people he started abducting when his older brothers asked him to. After all, he'd recently been introduced to the family business at 16. And it was fucked up. Back then some voice in Pierce's head told him if he did a good thing for every bad thing he did, maybe it would even out eventually. Maybe eventually he'd be someone worth redemption. So he decided to help the girl who looked like she wouldn't be missed if she vanished in the middle of a night.
He took Altessa off the streets, learning the girl was in search of her sister. After helping her handle some wounds and getting her some forged documentation with a new identity, Altessa ended up quite in debt to Pierce.
Years have passed, Altessa understanding Pierce a bit better than the average person after living with him and his family for long enough. She put up with his shitty attitude. She put up with his hostility. Recently Pierce has been noticing her starting to get more fed up and can't even stand having a drink with him some evenings. He feels she's just waiting for him to ask her to repay her debt so she's never got to bother with him again. That's why he's going to make sure he never evens that debt.
HISTORY WITH INIGO
Squntie named Pierce "Wood" the first night they met. Ronan (Pierce's brother) gave Pierce some cursed wooden sword and asked that he destroy it. Unsure how to make that happen... He ended up in the Quicksand with it, worried about what the cursed item might do if he wasn't careful with it. Squintie suggested they dump it in the Palace of the Dead, but Pierce thought the man was being sarcastic.
Pierce didn't hear from Squintie for a little while, but when the two met again Squintie mentioned he had seriously gone into the Palace of the Dead. Pierce was a bit shocked, agreeing to accompany Squntie if he went again. Squintie also asked Pierce if he'd like to help take down a trafficking and slaver ring. Pierce blindly agreed, not wanting to disappoint the guy. Quietly, he suffered knowing he was the type of evil Squntie wanted to put an end to. In fact.. If Squintie manages to hunt down the trafficker and the guy snitches... Will the Tawnee family end up being named? A part of Pierce doesn't want Squintie to be successful. He's not sure if he's meant to be loyal to his family and their business associates, or be loyal to his new friends who want to do good.
Pierce already knows he's past the point of redemption.
HISTORY WITH ASHEL
Ashel showed up to the Quicksand one night demanding Pierce fight his friend. Pierce was skeptical, unsure why some low class brute like Ashel was hanging around a noble citizen. It seemed like some sort of set up, maybe a hustle gig the two played. He began asking questions though the two didn't want to answer and ended up leaving a few questions in.
Pierce didn't see from Ashel again after that night until the guy butted in while Pierce was with Altessa. He disliked the way he was treating her, immediately demanding he treat her better. Livid at the man trying to tell Pierce and Altessa how to live their lives, Pierce nearly caused a scene only stopping because Altessa kept giving him her stupid expression begging him not to.
Things boiled over two nights after Pierce was released from a jail sentence after he started a bar brawl. He was sitting on the side of the street attempting to meditate like Gaius (his younger brother) suggested when a crowd kept pestering Pierce poking fun at him about his arrest. He got a bit mouthy back at them, even directing some of his anger towards Altessa. Ashel showed up seeing him treating Altessa in an unsatisfactory way. The other male kicked Pierce against the wall instigating an altercation knowing Pierce would be in one hell of a shit storm if he was caught in another fight only hours after being released. Pierce had to sit there listening to Ash lecture him again about how he wasn't good enough to know people like Altessa. The idiot thinks Pierce can wake up tomorrow morning and be someone new.
So fuck this motherfucker.
